The third annual UGA hack-a-thon, UGA Hacks, was recently held on campus with involvement from School of Art graphic design students. This student-organized event was an opportunity to learn about innovative technology and collaborate with teams from other disciplines and institutions.The first UGA Hacks event in 2016 was founded by a group of students including graphic design senior Paul Hwang. Eileen Wallace, Lecturer in printmaking and book arts, has been invited to exhibit five prints in the international exhibition of letterpress printing at Atom Gallery in London from February 23–March 17, 2018. Curated by Pixel Press, the exhibition showcases exploration and creativity with letterpress printing techniques.

Associate Professor of Art History Nell Andrew will present her research related to Dada futures at an upcoming event celebrating The International Dada Archive.

Art X Instructor Chris Cogan will be included in a group exhibition at the Musée d'art moderne André Malraux in Le Havre, France starting in February 2018. The show is a collection of 16mm film works curated by Light Cone, Paris. Cogan will exhibit his 16mm film “NO MOON”, which is an exploration of the many facets of delirium.

Congratulations to Dodd Assistant Professor Benjamin Britton for receiving the 2018 Chiaro Award from the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California. The award is a fully sponsored residency accompanied by a $15,000 cash prize that is awarded to accomplished mid-career painters residing in the United States.

Drawing and Painting Professor Diane Edison was recently selected as a regional jurer in the newly launched US XL Catlin Art Prize program. The US XL Catlin Art Prize is at its core a celebration of figurative imagery in contemporary art practice.
