Jordan Dopp, Art History graduate student, has been awarded a 2018 Jennifer C. Groot Memorial Fellowship from the American Center of Oriental Research to excavate in the ancient city of Petra in Jordan. Dopp joins a select group of two other fellows from the United States and Canada to be awarded this fellowship to participate in archaeological projects in Jordan this summer.

Julianne Miao, a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Art History and Marketing at the University of Georgia, was awarded the 2018 Luce Curatorial Internship for Museum Diversity at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in the Arts of America Department.  

Assistant Professor Mark Abbe has been invited to teach at Yale University’s Summer Institute in Technical Art History, also known as STITAH, which is organized by the Yale’s Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.

The Guggenheim Memorial Foundation recently announced that alumni Meghann Riepenhoff (BFA 2003) has been awarded a prestigious 2018 fellowship.

The 2018 MFA Candidate Thesis Exhibition at the Georgia Museum of Art will be on view from April 7–May 14, 2018, with an opening reception this Saturay, April 7 at 5:30pm. 

Janice Simon, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Associate Professor of Art History, was honored with the Nineteenth Century Studies Association's President's Award on March 16, 2018. The award was presented at the annual conference of the Nineteenth Century Studies Association in Philadelphia.

Congratulations to Dodd graduate students Ally Christmas (Photography), Kira Hegeman (Art Education), Brooke Leeton (Art History), and Deepanjan Mukhopadhyay (Photography) who have received Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards from the University’s Center for Teaching and Learning and the UGA Office of the Vice President for Instruction.
