ARCHIVE FEVER is a program at the Dodd Galleries that explores research and visual culture. Part Pechu-Kuchu, part image round-robin, 4 students, faculty and visiting artists will be asked to present 10-15 slides that inform their peceptual, emotional, and intellectual archive.

American artist, curator, and art historian Leslie King-Hammond will give the featured commencement address to the graduating class of 2017 at the Lamar Dodd School of Art spring graduation ceremony. Hammond is the current, and founding, Director of the Center for Race and Culture at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she is also Graduate Dean Emeritus.

Junior graphic design majors Daniel Easley and Jonathan Cheaves each had their poster design submissions selected for inclusion in AIGA Atlanta’s Poster Show Part II: Art Director’s Cut exhibition, on view at the 2017 Atlanta Film Festival from March 24 to April 2.

NEWSPAPER (1969–2017), an exhibition curated by Dodd Photography Fellow Mo Costello and New York photographer and historian Marcelo Gabriel Yáñez, opens on March 23, 2017 in the C-U-B-E Gallery on the second floor north hallway and in the Project Space on the second floor south hallway of the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

Assistant Professor Benjamin Britton exhibits work in the group show Opening Scene at Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, GA. The opening reception will be Wednesday, March 22 from 7–10pm at the Castleberry location. The exhibition runs through April 22. Works by Cosmo Whyte, Mie Yim, Deb Lawrence, and Robert Sagerman are also to be exhibited.  

Professor Joseph Norman's Lithographs Acquired

The David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, along with Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas, have both recently acquired lithographs by Lamar Dodd School of Art Professor Joseph Norman. The acquired works were inspired by Norman's early trips to the jungles of Latin America in the 1990s, and two of the lithographs were printed at the famed Tamarind Institute, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The works include portraits, florals, and landscapes.

Assistant Professor Demi Thomloudis had work included in Duality of Presence,an exhibition that took place at the Super + Centercourt gallery from March 8–14, 2017 in Munich, Germany during the annual International Exposition of Trades and Crafts (Handwerksmesse) and the internationally renowned exhibition, Munich Jewelry Week / Schmuck 2017.
