do it UGA

Read more about do it UGA

"do it" is a curatorial project originally concevied by curator Hans Ulrich Obrist based on a simple proposition: "Create an instruction that someone else can use to make an artwork." In "do it UGA," graduate students at the Dodd select different sets of instructions that will guide their making. The exhibition investigates how instruction-based art privileges themes of variation and authenticity and encourages creative acts of interpretation.

Jiman Choi: Traces of Silence

Read more about Jiman Choi: Traces of Silence

Dodd visiting artist in ceramics, Jiman Choi, exhibits a new body of work developed while in Athens. To explore the relations between body and emotion, Choi repeats a similar action hundreds of times by making the modest shape of a tradiational Kroean bowl in porcelain. The repetition acts as meditation in understanding the fundamentals of the world, and as a study of the patterns of the artist's life.
