Using photography and sound, Thalassa Raasch constructs a borderland where the transition between life and death is as unclear as it is quotidian. Inspired by her friendship with gravedigger, Everrad Hall, the exhibition marks a trajectory through an imagined landscape that loops back in on itself, demarcating where death overlaps with joy, humor, and the strangeness of everyday life.

Ally White presents her first Atlanta solo show, No Worries — an exhibition of acrylic and wool paintings taking place at Eyedrum Art & Music Gallery September 17th thru October 8th. Investigating contrasting themes of happiness, anxiety, loneliness and self-comfort, each piece works to balance and cope through the use of color, humor and play.

Christina Hanawalt Joins Dodd Faculty

Read more about Christina Hanawalt Joins Dodd Faculty

Christina Hanawalt joined the School of Art faculty this fall as Visiting Assistant Professor in Art Education. Hanawalt recently received her PhD in Art Education with a minor in Curriculum and Instruction from the Pennsylvania State University, where her research examined the experiences of new art teachers using a theory of collage as critical practice as a framework for generating new understandings of what it means to be an art teacher in contemporary public schools, especially given their entanglement in the widespread audit and standardization culture of education.
