Alum Chris Wyrick was recently featured in Architectural Digest for his work on Lenny Kravitz’s Brazilian compound. Wyrick created murals for Kravitz’s former coffee plantation home that featured larger than life jungle foliage and contemporary geometric prints. Kravitz and Wyrick’s met while working together for a previous project for Kavitz Designs.

Fifty years ago, John D. Kehoe, professor at the University of Georgia Lamar Dodd School of Art, went on a two-month search to select a site for the School’s Study Abroad Program. After visiting almost thirty different locales throughout Italy, he chose not one of the major centers of art studies, like Florence or Rome, but instead, the remarkable Tuscan town of Cortona, Italy. He could not resist the charm of the ancient walled village made famous many years later by the book and subsequent movie Under the Tuscan Sun.

Professor Imi Hwangbo will exhibit her work in the traveling exhibition “Cut and Paste: Works of Paper.”  This exhibition focuses on the ways in which contemporary artists manipulate paper to create remarkable drawn, sculptural, assembled, woven, or folded works of art.

Jordan Dopp, a Ph.D. student in Art History, has received two awards to assist her studies this summer in Athens, Greece.

Paula Reynaldi, a current graduate student with the Art Education department has been included in 4th installment of MOCA GA’s the biennial exhibition Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists and awarded a Juror’s Prize.

Assistant Professor of Jewelry and Metalwork Demitra Thomloudis and graduate student Guadelupe Navarro are included in the Metal Museum’s 40th Anniversary Exhibition, 40 Under 40.  This exhibition will open on Sunday, May 26 and run through Sunday, September 15, 2019. The Museum will host a reception and gallery talk with the Director of Collections & Exhibitions on Sunday, June 2 at 3pm.

This year, the Lamar Dodd School of Art shares ties to the Whitney Biennial in New York. The 2019 Whitney Biennial includes former Dodd Chair Kota Ezawa and a lecturer from our Visiting Artist Series, Josh Kline.
