As a final wrap up for public events related to New Gods | Old Gods, please come listen to the stories behind and thoughts about collaborating across cultures and disciplines when addressing histories of violence.

Come see Made Bayak join in the endeavors of the artists collaborating with Ally Hoffner and the Eco-Art Festival that celebrates Lake Herrick at UGA. There will be music, community, and a series of artworks based off of research about Lake Herrick. Artful love for a pivotal part of Athen’s ecology will be something you don’t want to miss.

Come see “The Look of Silence” for a deeper understanding of the 1965 Indonesian genocide events that are part of Made Bayak’s work. Please be warned for this event that representations of and conversations about multiple kinds of violence exist within this event.

Musical Performance by Gamelan Chandra Natha, a Balinese Gamelan Ensemble from the UGA Hugh Hodgson School of Music, at ATHICA

This newly arrived ensemble will play a short thirty to forty-minute segment of the long-practiced art of Gamelan, a form of percussion music played at ceremonial and communal music in Bali, Indonesia. Come here the beautiful music accompany Made Bayak’s energetic art at the Athens Institute of Contemporary Art (Athica).
