Asen Kirin, Professor of Art History, was recently featured in an award-winning documentary by CloudCatcher Productions entitled, Georgia Museum of Art Exhibition: "Gifts and Prayers: The Romanovs and Their Subjects". The documentary was awarded a Silver Medal in the National Telly Awards.

Megan Neely, Art History PhD candidate, was recently awarded both the Lamar Dodd School of Art Andrew Ladis European Travel Award and the University of Georgia's Graduate School Summer Research Travel Grant. The funds allowed Neely to travel in the summer of 2018 to study works by the Venetian artist Titian in the Czech Republic, Austria, and the United Kingdom.

PhD student Lindsay Doty's doctoral research examines the patronage and production of rare Italian Renaissance images that portray the Virgin Mary as an extremely aged mother; in particular, those made by Andrea Mantegna and his circle while he served as court artist to the Gonzaga family in Mantua.  Within this framework, she is also exploring the artist-patron relationship between Mantegna and Barbara of Brandenburg, who was a formidable, yet understudied matron of the Gonzaga dynasty, and arguably the perfect patron of these unusual Marian images.

Alumna of the Lamar Dodd School of Art and University of South Carolina Aiken Chancellor, Dr. Sandra Jordan, was awarded the highest honor from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the James T. Rogers Distinguished Leadership Award.

Massey Klein is pleased to present The End & The Beginning, a two-person exhibition exploring themes of life and death through works on paper by Alice Gibney and UGA Alum, Sarah Irvin. This exhibition is on view from January 11, 2019 to February 17, 2019, with an opening reception Friday, January 11 from 6-8 pm.

Associate Professor of Graphic Design Moon Jang won a national design competition, the Print Regional Design Award (RDA), with her editorial design for the American Craft Inquiry Volume 1, Issue 2. The RDA is the industry’s most prestigious and well-respected American design competition.
