Taylor Glennon, Art History graduate student, was awarded the Matheny Family Graduate Award and a 2018 Art History departmental travel grant for research related to her Master’s thesis. These funds allowed Glennon to travel to Florence and Bologna in November 2018.

In an effort to provide students in the Lamar Dodd School of Art and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music with comprehensive and specialized career support, the Arts Career and Entrepreneurship Space (ACES) was initiated in the Fall Semester of 2018. The shared office in the Lamar Dodd School of Art serves as a space where students can come to seek assistance in identifying professional objectives, building career skills, locating opportunities, preparing job application materials, and finding internships.

The MFA 2019 Exhibition will be held at the Georgia Museum of Art and at the Deupree Gallery.

The exhibition will be on view from April 12–May 19, 2019, with an opening reception on Friday, April 12th 6-8 PM at the Georgia Museum and 8-10 PM at the Deupree Gallery.

Professor Joe Norman and students from the Lamar Dodd School of Art were recently featured in Garden & Gun Magazine for leading a project called “Color the World Bright”. In this program, Norman and students create and restore public murals of a bygone time.

The Board of Visitors of the Lamar Dodd School of Art recently held their Winter meeting on January 11-12, 2018.

The Board of Visitors are champions of the School who support the short and long-term goals of the school. The board recognizes that the Dodd has a never-ending objective to strive for excellence as an academic institution of higher learning in the visual arts, and the board desires to play a vital role is this endeavor.

La Mostra: Cortona 2018 Exhibition Reception and Reunion

La Mostra

La Mostra, or "The Show" is a continuation of a 49-year-old tradition exhibiting artwork produced by students and faculty during their sojourn at UGA’s Study Abroad in Cortona, Italy. Works produced by Cortona program participants during Spring, Summer and Fall programs of 2018 will be displayed at the School of Art January 9 – 26, 2019. On January 26, 2019 a reunion and closing reception will take place at the School of Art, where closing ceremony festivities will begin at 3:00 PM in auditorium S151 on the first floor.
