The Lamar Dodd  School of Art presents its second Spring BFA Exit exhibition, “Be Still”. Please join us in celebrating graduate BFA students' captstone exhibition.

The opening reception is April 19, 2019.  The work is on view until April 26th.

Color/Feld is a collaborative project between Paula Runyon and Mary Gordon. 

In this material exploration, color, line, texture, and shape were brought together to create small scenes evoking landscape, childhood, and play in nature.

Siavash Tohidi: Rowhomes

In this suite of works, Siavash Tohidi examines architecture and displacement in considering the rowhomes of Baltimore. Tohidi perceives space as a “pre-existing void endowed with formal properties alone”, to quote Lefebvre. As such, the spectator becomes a digital cartographer that surveys facades, texture,s and surfaces in pursuit of filling the void; the eyes become observatories mimicking the vision of a satellite rendering the spaces as blurry digital imagery.

In this series of prints Dodd MFA student, Sanaz Haghani, continues her investigation in the veiling of Iranian woman. Having grown surrounded by the hijab, the mysterious veiled Muslim Iranian women that captured Haghani’s attention as a small girl continue to billow around the edges of her mind. As she grew older, Haghani questioned the doctrine of the hijab and the ways in which this specific piece of clothing influenced and shaped her identity.

In the fruitful strip of imagination between a doll and its human we can find a third-space where boredom lays like fresh fertilizer on half-solidified emotions and feelings waiting to grow into identity. Dolls can evoke horror, comfort, resentment, and a multitude of other experiences, but regardless- these canopic beauties are a place where humanity goes to grow like that thing in the back of your fridge; persistent and inexplicable...

Of the exhibition Reynaldi write: 

My work entails making pieces with masking tape that I stack, multiply, and assemble without glue. By multiplication, repetition, and expansion, each little shape reveals a new form.

Amos Eno Gallery is pleased to present Visual Notes from a Provocateur, a début solo exhibition of new works by Hatidza Mulic. An opening reception will be held on Friday, April 26 from 7-9 PM at the gallery’s location at 56 Bogart Street in Brooklyn, NY. The exhibition is on view from April 25 to May 19, 2019.
