La Mostra 2019

La Mostra 2019

Spring semester's Cortona exhibition, La Mostra (‘The Show’), presents the work of faculty and students who have participated in the UGA Cortona Studies Abroad Program during the Spring of 2019. Please join the program for the exhibition in Cortona, Italy. Festivities will begin at 5:30pm on April 12, 2019 in Palazzo Ferretti.

Artist Talks: Lyndon House 44th Juried Exhibition

Each Thursday in April, starting at 6 pm, a selection of artists will discuss their practice and work included in this year's show. Come meet the artists!

This week, on April 11, artsits Leah McKellop, Cody Matthews, Jon Vogt, and Mary Porter will speak about their works in a gallery walk-through led by Curator, Beth Sale.

Joshua Johnson, a senior Art History student and studio artist, has recently been awarded the Havner Curatorial Internship this summer at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Johnson is enthusiastic about the opportunity to engage with their collection of Gilded Age works and to aid the curatorial staff in the realization of Crystal Bridge's mission to increase community access to American Art

Traditional Balinese Painting Workshop with Made Bayak

Please bring your general painting and drawing supplies to this free event at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. Artist I Made Bayak Muliana will be leading us through how to create traditional kamasan symbols, explaining the meaning behind them and their development within contemporary Balinese painting practices.

Suggested supplies: Paper, pencil, ink, white, black, and red acrylic paint

Associate Professor of Art History Shelley Zuraw has been named as one of five Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professors, the highest university recognition for excellence in instruction. She will be honored at the upcoming annual Faculty Recognition Banquet on April 1.
