If you are seeking state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant, tight-knit community enhanced by exhibitions and a robust line-up of visiting artists and scholars, look no further. The Lamar Dodd School of Art is now accepting applications to graduate programs in studio art, art history, and art education for the 2026-2027 academic year. Interested applicants are encouraged to learn more about our application process and prepare materials by the January 1, 2026 deadline.

Note: The deadline for the online Master of Art Education (MAEd) program is April 15 for international applicants and July 1, 2026 for domestic applicants. Students will be admitted to the MAEd program on a rolling basis.

We welcome prospective graduate students to attend upcoming virtual information sessions to address additional inquiries about curriculum, facilities, and more. Registration is required to attend a session.

About Graduate Studies at the Lamar Dodd School of Art 

Housed within the University of Georgia, a tier-one research university located in Athens, Georgia, the Lamar Dodd School of Art is a nationally ranked art school offering graduate degrees in the fields of Art, Art Education, and Art History. Our MFA students work in ceramicsgraphic designjewelry & metalworkpainting & drawingphoto & expanded mediaprintmaking & book artssculpture & technology, and textiles.

The Dodd offers generous, merit-based assistantships and scholarships and is committed to a diverse student body. The studio program is structured to foster stylistic diversity through individual exploration and cross-disciplinary research. MFA students benefit from a flexible, forward-thinking curriculum that allows them to dig deep in one area or cross-pollinate and experiment. Likewise, course offerings in Art Education and Art History ensure that students are exposed to a wide array of subject matter, as well as a range of methodological approaches.
