Potato

Read more about Potato

Potato, organized by MFA candidate in Painting and Drawing, Heather Foster, and implemented by her Intermediate Drawing undergraduate students, is an on-going cumulative exhibition that takes the insult “Couch Potato” as its point of inspiration. Featuring photos, paintings, altered furniture, and other found objects and assemblages, the works in the show address leisurely, unproductive activity in the home. Denying the form of the white box, the exhibition will display an all over quality.

Preservationist

Read more about Preservationist

This exhibition is spearheaded by the Air Purifying Plants Proliferation Project, or A-4P, a group of Dodd Printmaking and Painting and Drawing graduate students invested in embracing and investigating the rapid advancement of green practices in the contemporary art studio.

Pictures of Us: Photographs from the Do Good Fund Collection / No Strangers Here

Read more about Pictures of Us: Photographs from the Do Good Fund Collection / No Strangers Here

Pictures of Us is a city-wide exhibition that features photographs from the Do Good Fund, a public collection that focuses on the acquisition of contemporary Southern Photography. No Strangers Here featured at the Dodd Galleries, exhibits works by artists from the 1970s to our current period who approach photography in a variety of ways, from the snapshot to the portrait. Brought together, the works present a series of people, places and things both oddly familiar and unfamiliar that make-up our richly diverse and often contradictory Southern cultural landscape.

Parallels: Jonathan Wahl & Sondra Sherman

Parallels, an exhibition organized by University of Georgia Associate Professor of Jewelry and Metals Mary Hallam Pearse, places the work of two divergent, yet connected artists side-by-side. Brooklyn-based artist Jonathan Wahl investigates scale and perception in his heroic, often abstracted charcoal drawings of Victorian mourning jewelry and precious gems. Sondra Sherman, living and working across the country in San Diego, examines the role of jewelry by making corsages and neckpieces based on images of medical botanical forms and the California freeway landscape.
