In standing by the fall, Meredith Emery, Dodd MFA candidate, considers the entanglement of the individual, ecological communities, and institutions in the climate crisis. Through the visual language of pre-industrial and industrial architecture + technology, the installation explores the impossibility of technological solutions to climate change alongside notions of power and accountability.

Absurd Construction is an exhibition in the guise of an experimental construction site. The installation, created by Dodd MFA candidates Rachel Seburn and Ethan Snow, foregrounds alternative building practices that investigate experimental applications for various materials. Pastel silicone corrugated roofing and plexiglass rebar are offered as possible material uses that might just hold up.

Visiting Artist Lecture with Ruby Neri

Los Angeles artist Ruby Neri carries West Coast street art into her ceramic practice through the interplay of bright glazes and bold, hand-crafted shapes. At the invitation of retiring professor and long-time ceramics area chair Ted Saupe, Neri will be visiting the Lamar Dodd School of Art on the week of October 17 for a series of engagements and workshops with students and faculty through the school's Visiting Artist and Scholar program.

Ouida Williams: A New Perspective

ACE / FRANCISCO Gallery is proud to present the large-scale work of late abstract painter, Ouida Williams. The show, Ouida Williams: A New Perspective, opens on Thursday August 18th from 6PM-8PM and will be on view through September 10th. A Georgia native, Williams received her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia. During her graduate studies, Williams was considered a figurative painter. In the years to follow, she developed and perfected her non-figurative style.
