Tripwire explores anxieties between Local and Global through the works of immigrant artists and artists from the American South that investigate through a variety of media, themes of dislocation, home, surveillance, exploration, and technology. This grouping of artists is not only an attempt at diversification within the institutional space, but also conceptually mirrors the themes of the exhibition. The gallery space becomes a performative site for the works from these various artists to push and pull on, to tense and relax the tripwire between them.
