In July the George Museum of Art opened the exhibition One Heart, One Way: The Journey of a Princely Art Collection. Curated by Professor of Art History and Parker Curator of Russian Art Asen Kirin, the exhibition features the Belosselsky-Belozersky Collection, a promised gift of Marina Belosselsky-Belozersky Kasarda to the museum.

Book Discussion with Dr. Ewa Lajer-Burcharth

Earlier in the same day as her Shouky Shaheen lecture "Drawing as Dialogue: Fragonard in Tivoli", Dr. Ewa Lajer-Burcharth will participate in an open discussion of her most recent monograph, The Painter's Touch: Boucher, Chardin, Fragonard (Princeton, 2018).

Sunflower Music Series: Chickasaw Mudd Puppies

Chickasaw Mudd Puppies made its mark in the early 90's with records produced by REM's Michael Stipe and blues icon Willie Dixon. The band has regrouped, reemerging with a sound honoring their roots while adding a few new tricks. Expect a mixture of rock, Americana, and blues with a dose of punk and an urge to dance.

ACES Artist Talk

Charles Harlan

ACES (Arts Career Entrepreneurship Space) is excited to host artist Charles Harlan (born, 1984, Smyrna, GA) for an informal discussion about his work and his life as an artist living and working in New York. The talk will take place on Thursday, August 23 in room C301L from 4-5 PM. He will discuss his time spent working as a studio assistant for Carol Bove and the book they edited together Carol Bove Manuals 2010 (The Leopard Press, 2010). There will be time for question and answers.

The Lamar Dodd School of Art and the Hugh Hodgson School of Music are pleased to announce the opening of the UGA Arts Career and Entrepreneurship Space (ACES). The mission of ACES is to provide comprehensive career support for students seeking a future in music and/or art/design by identifying professional objectives, building career skills, opening opportunities, preparing job applications, developing marketing and promotional strategies, organizing internships, launching entrepreneurial ventures and websites, raising funds, producing concert events and tours, etc.

The Golden Record: Far Beyond Our Galaxy

Forty-one years after the launch of NASA’s Voyager vessels, ATHICA celebrates the legacy of the Golden Record in an exhibition featuring work by regional and national artists. The Golden Record: Far Beyond Our Galaxy is the inaugural exhibition at ATHICA’s new location in the Leathers Building.

Meet New Dodd Chair Lauren Fensterstock

Artist, curator, and writer Lauren Fensterstock joins the Dodd faculty this fall as our newest Lamar Dodd Professorial Chair. Fensterstock is known for creating elaborate sculptures and intricate installations she constructs with materials associated with women’s crafts, such as hand-cut paper and seashells, aiming to emphasize the capacity of these media to reflect the complexities of the world beyond the domestic sphere.
