MFA Candidate AC Carter—who also performs as Lambda Celsius—was recently awarded an Athens Area Arts Council grant. AC is an artist, musician and festival organizer and will apply the grant towards supporting Ad•Verse Fest, a two-day festival showcasing solo and duo performers who blur the lines between the musical, visual and performative arts.

Associate Professor Benjamin Britton has a solo exhibition opening at Marcia Wood Gallery. Desire, broadly opens on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, in Atlanta. The exhibition is on view until March 2. For those in the area, the opening reception is from 7 PM – 9 PM.

Associate Professor Stefanie Jackson’s painting Bluest Eye (1999) is featured in the exhibition Stony the Road We Trod at the Georgia Museum of Art honoring Black History Month. This exhibition is on view until April 28, 2019.

Dodd Photography Fellow Forest Kelley composed music for the film Hale County This Morning, This Evening which won Best Music Score from the International Documentary Association. Additional composers were Scott Alario and Alex Somers. The film was directed and produced by RaMell Ross.

MFA Candidate Cristina Echezarreta was featured in the Winter 2019 issue of UGA Graduate Magazine for her work, which is causing a “buzz” around campus.

“In the process of working with the Georgia Prison Beekeeping program, the graduate student has brought her twin interests, art and entomology, together. And this year, she adopted similar ideas in order to curate an art exhibition with fellow artists at the Lamar Dodd School of Art.”
