Southern Pastoral Reception

Dodd alum Nate Carlson (2013) will have a solo exhibition, Southern Pastoral, in the Leo Castelli gallery of Brenau University on view from February 14 – April 25, 2019. 

In this exhibition, Carlson investigates the relationship between the old, traditionally rural south, and new, booming metropolitan growth. The works explore themes of rural gentrification and economic displacement while finding beauty in the colors and forms that create the southern landscape. Abandoned spaces and abstracted, ethereal figures serve as observers to these transitions, quietly weathering that which they have little or no control over. 

Reception will be held March 7, 2019 from 5:30 – 7pm.
