Jack Davis Lecturer: Phoebe Gloeckner

Phoebe Gloeckner

Phoebe Gloeckner is a graphic novelist. Her book, "The Diary of a Teenage Girl" (2002), was praised as "one of the most brutally honest, shocking, tender, beautiful portrayals of growing up female in America." Cartoonist R. Crumb called her story, "Minnie’s Third Love" (published in A Child’s Life and Other Stories) one of the “comic book masterpieces of all time.”

Her books have been published in multiple languages and her artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States and Europe.

Students may choose to attend either of these meetings:

Delicious Food, Beer, Wine, Signature Fall Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, arts & crafts for kids, live music, big, comfy couches and big screen TVs so that you can keep up with all of your college football games! We will also be formally dedicating our newly renovated courtyard space.

Entry to the Tailgate is free with your online registration, however, donations are welcome and appreciated. Donations help us to keep bringing you first-class events that connect and engage the Dodd community.

Opening Reception for Dodd Alum Solo Exhibition at Tif Sigfrids

Andy Giannakakis art

Tif Sigfrids will feature a solo exhibition with works by Dodd alum Andy Giannakakis (BFA 2012). The Gypsy will open with a reception on Saturday, October 13 from 4-6 pm and remain on view through December 1.

Opening Reception: OCAF’s Annual Small Works Exhibition

The Oconee Cultural Arts Foundation is excited to announce a new exhibitions that includes a number of Dodd MFA students opening October 5.

In their main gallery, OCAF’s annual Small Works exhibition is back with a twist. OCAF is introducing a new exhibition, David & Goliath: OCAF’s Annual Small Works and their Colossal Counterparts.

Willson Center Short Term Fellowship Lecture: Michael Kress

Kress disyourself

Sponsored by the Willson Center Short Term Fellowship, Michael Kress will explore an Athens iteration of his 2014 public participation work ADORE (Yokohama, JP) while in residence at UGA. Working with students, local artists, and musicians as interlocutors— Kress will host video and conversational-photography workshops exploring how: “Pop music like Rock, Blues, Soul or Punk provides a first contact to one's own aesthetic self-definition, as a kind of a pop ID.”
