The Athenaeum

"There’s no question that the field of art has changed dramatically over the last 20 years, and that artists now require expansive, flexible spaces. The Athenaeum would be an incomparable asset for Athens – a real draw for contemporary artists working in important, experimental ways."

— Paul Pfeiffer

Xin Xin: Labor in a Single Shot

Read more about Xin Xin: Labor in a Single Shot Log in to post comments

Labor and its near constant manifestation in the 21st century consumes Xin Xin’s exhibition Labor in a Single Shot. The title derives from a project of the same name by the late filmmaker Harun Farocki and curator Anttje Ehmann. Xin sees the Lumiere film as marking a clear distinction between what is work and what is leisure, “It’s such a strong visible representation of the possibility of departure,” they explain.

Work by Amy Gunby and Brandon Dudley

Amy & Brando’s Super Happy Fun Time” is a multi-media project space using design, illustration, video production and music to explore millennial nostalgia and the emotional detachment that accompanies it. Highly improvisational, the show’s main focus is to connect designers and artists through a shared sense of human connection in hopes that we stop taking ourselves so seriously.

Opening Reception:

Friday, September 13, 2019, 6 PM - 8 PM

Event Date
Fri, 09/13/2019 - 18:00
Location
