MFA candidate Jason Rafferty's painting "Persephone and Hermes in the Underworld" was accepted to exhibit at the large regional art competition Artfields, held in Lake City, SC. The annual competition offers over $100,000 in awards and exhibits over 400 artists from across the Southeast. The festival will take place April 23rd - May 1st (with social distancing guidelines in effect.) This is the second year Jason will be exhibiting at Artfields, having participated in the 2020 virtual exhibition.

Three Minute Thesis is a research communication competition open to master's and doctoral students in all fields. Competitors explain their research to a non-specialist audience for a chance to win cash prizes.

Important dates

MFA candidate Victoria Dugger will have a solo exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center in Athens. Mind the Body: works by Victoria Dugger will open on January 22 and run through April 3. The Lounge Gallery at the Lyndon House Arts Center features quarterly solo exhibitions by emerging artists. Artists in the beginning stages of their careers exhibit wall-bound works in mediums alternating from drawing to painting to photography to printmaking.
