Eileen Wallace, Glitch #5

Eileen Wallace, Senior Lecturer in Printmaking and Book Arts, curretly has a solo exhibition on view at Ciné. Glitch is a new series of letterpress prints made by the repetitive printing of traditional hairline lead rule. Typically used to print borders or lined paper, it is used in these prints to create pattern and moiré effects.

Glitch is on view through December 28.

The exhibition was was corrdinated by Mary Hallam Pearse, Associate Professor and Area Chair for Jewelry and Metals. Pearse will be supporting Ciné and local artists by coordinating exhibitions for the next year. The artists chosen represent a range of themes, styles and experiences, from the emerging to the established. The work stretches across the landscape of what is considered traditional in terms of letterpress, jewelry, drawing, painting and tattoos. What connects each of these artists is Athens Georgia, where they are an integral part of the community.

Eileen Wallace is a letterpress printer and bookbinder. She is a Senior Lecturer in Printmaking and Book Arts at the University of Georgia and a former resident artist at Penland School of Crafts. She has taught workshops at Penland, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and at other venues across the country. Eileen is a co-director emeritus of the Paper & Book Intensive (PBI) and has been a board member of Hand Papermaking Magazine. She curated the book Masters: Book Arts published by Lark Books in 2011.
