ArtWall@Hotel Indigo Athens is excited to announce its second exhibition as part of the quarterly rotating shows at Hotel Indigo, curated by Lilly McEachern. Crooked will be on view beginning January 17 and features work by Andrae Green, Craig Coleman and Jess Machacek.

Join us on April 7, 2022 at 6pm for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails and hear remarks from the artists and curator, followed by Indigo’s first “Live After 5”performance on the patio.

Christopher Cogan will show his recent single-channel video work “Extraction” in France during the Biennale d'Art et Culture d’Aix-en-Provence on March 26th.
This is a work that combines video with 16mm film Cogan shot in 2016.

The work will be hosted by Provence Art Contemporain [PAC], an association dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of contemporary art to the public. Over the years, PAC has become the largest territorial network of contemporary art structures in France.

Misplacement: A Symposium

The School of Art, in conjunction with the Georgia Review, is hosting a two-day interdisciplinary conference organized around the theme of misplacement. Visual artists and leading scholars in the fields of art history, literature, media studies, race, and queer theory will present their research at the newly opened Athenaeum. Events will include an exhibition, keynote address, and lectures.

The United States lost the war in Vietnam, yet it has triumphed again and again in the ongoing
image war. The images we know and the narratives we understand are about the American
experience. In this talk, Dr. Siona Wilson gives an account of the much less-familiar Vietnamese
representation of the American War. This anticolonial war looks radically different. In contrast to
the moral failure of idealized, weaponized American masculinity that we know all too well, the

REST NOTES: ON SLEEP AND BLACK CONTEMPORARY ART

Josie Hodson

Josie Hodson will discuss Black contemporary artists exploring the space of Black sleep, subverting its biopolitical regulation and the lethal expectation of perpetual industry. Artists such as Jennifer Packer, Noah Davis, and House/Full of Blackwomen show us the ways that visual representations of Black sleep can constitute quiet gestures of fugitivity and interiority in a culture that celebrates endurance over rest.
