As part of the UGA Performing Arts Center’s “Year of the Piano” celebrations, the Center has partnered with Ciné for a special screening of the documentary film Note by Note: The Making of Steinway L1037 by Lamar Dodd School of Art alumnus Ben Niles. A Q&A with the filmmaker will follow.

Visiting Artist Mark Leibert will discuss his background and his artwork, which includes painting, drawing, neural networks, etc. He will cover works from his different series, including Hotel Mirror, Lobby Flowers, and Projector. He explores a unifying theme of Being and Becoming and how he uses the mirror as a metaphor, symbol, and tool. Additional subjects will include aleatory and generative methods, including machine learning and neural networks.
