Join us for our first Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture of the season. New York-based artist Rose Salane will discuss her thinking and process behind her exhibition Fission or, Eclipse, on display at the Athenaeum and opening on September 12 at 6 pm.

Hong Hong: Inland

In Inland, Margie E. West Prize recipient and Dodd alumna, Hong Hong, examines the body as a closed ecological system, where various materials continually interact to sustain and regenerate itself. The large-scale paintings are made from hand-formed paper imbued with fragments from the natural world and Hong’s personal history - invasive plants or soil collected from Leelanau Clay Cliffs, objects preserved by her late grandfather, water from the Atlantic, images of the moon, poems written by Hong and then translated by her mother.

The Lamar Dodd School of Art is pleased to present the second Athens Art Book Fair (also Athens ABF) on Saturday, June 22nd from 11 am to 4 pm at the Athenaeum in downtown Athens, GA alongside AthFest, an annual free, three-day festival that celebrates Athens, GA’s vibrant creative culture, featuring local and regional musicians and visual artists.

Since 2006, the Lamar Dodd School of Art and the International Center in Cortona of the University of Georgia have co-created the Dodd Cortona Experience — approximately one week of special, artist-led tours centered around the art-rich and historical Tuscan hill town of Cortona.
