The edit-a-thon will take place in the Art Library and the N200 Computer Lab at the Dodd on Friday, March 1 from 12-5 pm.

There will be refreshments, computers, wikipedia experts, and research assistants on hand

12:30 and 2:30 pm

Brief presentations on wikipedia editing for beginners

3 pm

Callan Steinmann, Curator of Education at the Georgia Museum of Art, will lead a tour focusing on women in the GMOA’s collection, starting at the banner by Rebecca Rutstein in the atrium

Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well documented, with less than 10% of its contributors identifying as female. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of female participation.

Let’s change that!

Stop by the Art Library at the Lamar Dodd School of Art for an afternoon of communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art and feminism. This year's campaign focuses on Gender + The Non-Binary.

An expert Wikipedian will be on hand to provide in depth individual help. There will also be presentations on editing for beginners at 12:30 and 2:30. Computers are available but attendees are also encouraged to bring their own laptops when possible. Refreshments and snacks will also be provided.

People of all gender identities and expressions are encouraged to participate.

Wanna get started as soon as you arrive? Create a Wikipedia account before the event.
