Zapf, the Director of Programs and Curator at the Center for Craft, received her BFA in Jewelry and Metalwork from the Lamar Dodd School of Art in 2009. She will be conducting critiques of MFA student work at our Thomas Street Art Complex. Critic Bio Marilyn Zapf is the Director of Programs and Curator at the Center for Craft, a national nonprofit awarding over $300,000 each year to artists, curators, and scholars working in craft and a vibrant public gallery located in Asheville, NC. Zapf has worked closely with artists nationally and internationally to develop rigorous and engaging exhibitions, conferences, and programs that advance our understanding of what craft can be. She is currently a Trustee of the American Craft Council. Her work is informed by an M.A. in the History of Design from the Royal College of Art and Victoria & Albert Museum in London, England and a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from the University of Georgia.
