The 2018 edition of ATHICA’s annual juried exhibition runs through December 9, 2018. Guest Juror and UGA alum Teresa Bramlette Reeves (BFA Drawing and Painting, PhD Art History), Director of Curatorial Affairs, KSU Zuckerman Museum of Art, Kennesaw, Georgia, selected 27 works by 22 artists from over 145 works in competition, stating, “I always enjoy the opportunity to see work by artists I’m not familiar with, especially when the pool is so strong. And as an Athens native and a UGA graduate, I have deep connections to the area that make this opportunity even more special.”
Inventive, socially-conscious, forceful, and lighthearted, the selected works include painting, photography, sculpture, collage, balloons, crocheted hula hoops, and more.
The exhibition features work by the artists David Armistead, Lauren Bradshaw, Shawn Campbell (current MFA student), Melody Croft, Tamara DeStefano, Manty Dey, Ginger Goekjian, Gwen Gunter, Dana Jones, Reid McCallister, Manda McKay, Jennifer Niswonger-Morris (current MFA student), Stacey-Marie Piotrowski, R.B. Pruitt, Paula Reynaldi (alum), Eli Saragoussi, Susan Sellew, Diane Speight, Kaleena Stasiak (MFA, 2018), Kim Truesdale (current MFA student), Nicolas Vionnet, and Dia Webb.
