On the occasion of her retirement, the Lamar Dodd School of Art invites you to celebrate and reflect on the work and legacy of Dr. Shelley Zuraw, Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor of Art History at the Lamar Dodd School of Art specializing in Italian Renaissance art.

Associate Professor of History and Director of the UGA Museum Studies Certificate Program Akela Reason will present the lecture “Politics and Memory: Civil War Monuments in Gilded Age New York.”

Associate Professor Nicolas Morrissey will present the lecture “On the Conception of the Buddha at Ajaṇṭā: Iconographic Anomaly and Buddhology in the Early Medieval Deccan.”

Associate Professor Isabelle Loring Wallace explores the thematics of voice within the pictorial project of Jasper Johns with particular attention paid to the subject of ventriloquism and the painting of 1983 that takes this strange, antiquated art forum as its titular subject.

Dr. Noemi Quagliati of Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich joins us as a UGA Franklin-LMU faculty research exchange fellow. The Interdisciplinary Modernisms Workshop (UGA ModSquad) is delighted to host a presentation and discussion of the research behind her forthcoming book.
