Merit Scholarships Open to All

The Lamar Dodd School of Art offers students the opportunity to apply for competitive scholarships. The scholarships are open to full-time students majoring in any area of the visual arts. Preference is generally given to students who will be juniors or seniors, but in the final analysis, a variety of factors are taken into consideration before a decision is reached. Applications are screened by an appointed faculty committee, which has sole discretion in determining recipients of the awards.

For study abroad scholarships, please see information below.

Project and Experiential Learning Scholarships

Students pursuing project funding are encouraged to apply to our project awards. The Lamar Dodd School of Art offers two general project awards open to all. Students interested in pursuing these awards should submit a general scholarship application.

Two area project awards for jewelry & metalwork and for photography & expanded media are available to qualified students, as well. Applications for the area project awards are reviewed separately by area faculty through a separate application.

In addition, experiential learning scholarships fund independent project, study, or employment outside of Athens, Georgia. The Lamar Dodd School of Art Maymester in New York City and UGA Cortona programs independently coordinate scholarships for their program participants.

Experiential Learning Scholarships

Applications for non-Dodd Cortona Study Abroad awards are submitted through the School’s application process and are screened by an appointed faculty committee at the school, which has sole discretion in determining recipients of the awards.

Dodd Cortona Study Abroad Scholarships

Please note — the Lamar Dodd School of Art does not oversee the scholarship process for the UGA Cortona program.

Students who are pursuing Dodd Cortona Study Abroad scholarships should review eligibility requirements and deadlines by visiting the UGA Cortona - Dodd Cortona Study Abroad Scholarship page on the UGA Office of Global Engagement StudyAway portal. There are thirteen (13) Dodd – UGA Cortona specific scholarship opportunities. One completed scholarship application in the StudyAway portal allows applicants to be considered for any of these scholarships. Please contact UGA Cortona or the Office of Global Engagement for inquiries.
