R G BRown, III will be exhibiting "Afloat" in the Circle Gallery of the College of Environment and Design.
Afloat is a compendium of works by RG Brown that explores the notion of journey and the memories of new-found places and experiences. For RG, boats hold a primary place in human and societal development; they are archetypal vessels used to gather and transport personal experiences that shape how we live in the world. During his career Brown traveled to Africa, South America, Europe and Southeast Asia to learn boat building from indigenous people in various cultures. The exhibition will be in the Circle Gallery of the UGA College of Environment and Design at 285 S. Jackson Street and will be open from August 20, 2015 through October 2, 2015 and will be open to the public from 9 am - 6pm Monday through Friday. The opening reception will be held August 20th from 4:30 - 6:00pm.
