Adam Grinovich's work is largely centered around the taboos that surround jewelry - things that should not be done in a context of art, design, and everyday culture. The main element, a traditional faceted cubic zirconia stone, is the quintessential fake of the world of jewelry. The cultural connotation of the cubic zirconia is that of a knockoff diamond - a stand-in for the genuine article of value. His work references costume jewelry only in its essence, in expression the work takes on a design quality, often created inside of a digital CAD environment and 3d printed directly in stainless steel. Many of the works represent the cold precision of the environment, only in the end infused with the human touch of craft when the parts are cleaned and the stones meticulously set. His concept is the simple, empty nature of design balanced with the painstaking care are dedication to a personal method of craft that has been developed over the past decade. A digital, conceptual, designer, goldsmith, that rarely works in precious metals. 

Adam Grinovich was born in Boston Massachusetts USA and received his BFA from Massachusetts College of Art in the Jewelry and Metalsmithing program. After working in the CAD/CAM industry for 2 years he continued his studies, receiving an MFA in jewelry from Konstfack University in Stockholm Sweden studying under professors Ruudt Peters and Karen Pontoppidan.

In addition to his independent studio career Grinovich is a founding member of the experimental jewelry collective A5 (www.afive.se), a member of the design collective Critical + ( www.criticalplusdesign.com), a founder / head designer of the production jewelry company KIOSK (www.kiosk.earth).
