The Lamar Dodd School of Art is pleased to announce that several instructors and graduate students have recently been awarded for demonstrating their outstanding teaching skills, as well as for their contributions to research while serving in their positions at The University of Georgia.

Lauren O’Connor-Korb, recent Sculpture MFA Graduate (2019), was awarded the 2020 Excellence in Research by Graduate Students Award in the Humanities & Fine Arts. The Graduate School administers five awards of $1000 annually to the following areas; Fine Arts, Humanities and Letters, Life Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Applied Studies. The award recognizes the contributions and significance of graduate student research at the University of Georgia.

Jhih-yin Diane Lee, PhD candidate in Art Education and Graduate Teaching Assistant, was awarded the 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award, one of the top teaching awards for graduate students at UGA. The Excellence in Teaching Award is sponsored by the Graduate School and administered by The Center for Teaching and Learning to recognize graduate students who go above and beyond to contribute to teaching at UGA. Diane focuses on applying the visual arts to everyday life. Concerns with diversity, inclusion, and equity are central to her teaching.

The Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award is administered by The Center for Teaching and is sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Instruction. The top 10% of teaching assistants at UGA receive this award for their dedication and contribution to teaching at the University of Georgia. Nara Kim, Laurel Fulton, Christina Foard-Hunady, and Jordan Dopp from the Lamar Dodd School of Art have all been recognized for their exceptional teaching skills and awarded the 2019 Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

Nara Kim is PhD candidate in Art Education. Laurel Fulton received her BA in Photography and Art Education at University of Northern Colorado. She is currently seeking an MFA at UGA, and works as a graduate teaching assistant. Christina Foard-Hunady received her BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the University of Cincinnati. She is currently seeking an MFA from UGA, and is the Project Director of Imagination Squared. Jordan Dopp is currently seeking a PhD in Art History, and works as a graduate teaching assistant. She received her MA in Art History with an emphasis on Ancient Greek and Roman Art from the University of Georgia.

Megan Neely, Ph.D. candidate in Art History, was recently awarded a Summer Doctoral Research Assistantship from the Graduate School at the University of Georgia. This assistantship will allow Neely to pursue research for her dissertation in the coming months. Neely earned her Masters degree from the Lamar Dodd School of Art in 2015.  Currently, her research addresses self-portraiture, poetry, and mythological punishment in sixteenth century Venetian art. Neely was also awarded with an Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2020.
