Christopher Cogan will show his recent single-channel video work “Extraction” in France during the Biennale d'Art et Culture d’Aix-en-Provence on March 26th.
This is a work that combines video with 16mm film Cogan shot in 2016.

The work will be hosted by Provence Art Contemporain [PAC], an association dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of contemporary art to the public. Over the years, PAC has become the largest territorial network of contemporary art structures in France.

About the Biennale d’Aix-en-Provence:

After two years of pandemic, Aix-en-Provence is launching its biennial of art and culture on March 26, 2022. “This event, called "A Fifth Season", was born from the suffering of the pandemic where cultural actors no longer had an audience and had difficulty creating", detailed Sophie Joissains, UDI mayor of Aix-en-Provence, during a press conference March 1st.
The biennial will be divided into four periods following the rhythm of the seasons. March 26 opens the "Spring Season", and the public will be able to stroll through the different districts of the city that will take them from the heights of Aix-en-Provence to Jas-de-Bouffan via the historic center and the cultural forum, without forgetting the Sainte-Victoire mountain. On the program in particular are several contemporary art installations and a choreography by Angelin Preljocaj around the philosopher Gilles Deleuze.

Christopher Cogan is a multi-media artist who lives and works in Athens GA. His films and installations have been presented in numerous exhibitions internationally. He has worked extensively in television and in the visual arts in France and America for over two decades. Recent shows include Galerie Maurits van der Laar: Den Haag (2022), La Friche Belle de Mai: Marseille France, Kranenburgh Museum: Bergen Holland, Middelheim Museum: Antwerp Belgium, Galerie Fons Welters: Amsterdam, “Xcentric” at CCCB: Barcelona, 1646 Gallery: Den Hague, 2011 Leeds Film Festival; and the Oberhausen Film Festival.
Cogan is represented by Light Cone, Paris and Canyon Cinema, San Francisco. He currently teaches experimental media in The Photo/Expanded Media departmant at the University of Georgia.
