Don't delay! The deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year is Wednesday, February 1st. Lamar Dodd School of Art scholarships provide undergraduate and graduate students financial support for tuition, special projects, and study abroad experiences. Interested applicants are encouraged to review key information on our Scholarship page before submitting an application.

In 2022, the School of Art awarded approximately $60,000 in merit, departmental, study abroad, and graduate scholarships, with an average range of $500 - $2,000 per award. These scholarships are awarded each academic year through an application process that opens in the late fall semester and closes in early spring. Scholarship recipients are announced by late spring, and scholarship funds are awarded for the subsequent fall semester.

Our scholarships are made possible through generous contributions to the School that recognize and encourage academic and professional achievement. Please carefully review our timeline, requirements, and process below before consulting our lists of awards and submitting an application!

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Incoming freshmen accepted to UGA
  • Currently-enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at the Lamar Dodd School of Art
  • Art-intended majors enrolled at UGA
  • Students must be enrolled full-time in fall 2023
  • Students graduating in spring or summer 2023 are not eligible to apply
  • Students must have a current FASFA on file at the Office of Student Financial Aid for the fall 2023 semester in order to apply for scholarships that require financial need

Scholarship Application and Award Process

  • Students are encouraged to review all information about the awards they are applying for. Students should have all necessary credentials for serious consideration.
  • Student applicants are permitted to apply for multiple scholarships at one time.
  • A general application must be submitted for consideration each academic year, as scholarships are not automatically renewed.
  • Scholarships are credited to student accounts in August for the fall semester.
  • Scholarship recipients are invited to attend the annual scholarship awards ceremony in the spring.
  • As a courtesy to our generous donors, scholarship recipients are required to participate in thank you writing workshops to be considered for future awards and scholarships.

Any questions regarding the application process or individual scholarship awards can be addressed to Scholarship Faculty Committee Chair Mary Hallam-Pearse at mpearse@uga.edu

The Lamar Dodd School of Art’s scholarship program is coordinated with the University’s Office of Student Financial Aid. Students who have questions about how a Lamar Dodd School of Art scholarship could impact their financial aid programs may call 706-542-8217 or visit the Financial Aid Office in Room 104, Caldwell Hall. Students may also find information on the OSFA website.
