Time at the Table is a collaborative exhibition that features the work of Dodd undergraduates, Alan Barret and Athen-based artists Massie Herlihy and Alex Barret. An intersection of performance, installation, ceramics, and photographs, in this installation the artists hope to bring a better understanding of what it means to pursue and use ceramics in the ritual of our daily lives. Barret and Herlihy worked together to create a set of dishes that activated the performance, a dinner that was photographed by Barret. By bringing the table and place-setting into the gallery, the artists highlight the collaborative aspects of both pottery and the nature of friendship, so often forged at countless meals at the table and throughout our lives.
Alan Barrett was born in Roswell, Ga and is a senior pursuing a B.F.A in Ceramic arts at the University of Georgia. Barrett has appeared in numerous shows in the Atlanta and Athens area, as well as being the recipient of Balsano Family Arts Scholarship.
Alex Barrett is a senior from Roswell, GA. While Barrett is pursuing a degree in political science, he has also been maintaining a photography practice. He has worked as a product photographer, portrait artist, and even shown work at the 45th Lyndon house art exhibition.
Massie Herlihy is a senior at the University of Georgia, pursuing a B.F.A in both ceramic arts as well as art education. Herlihy has run her own art camps, worked as a production potter, and been an instructor of ceramics at local camps.
