Leah Nieboer Book Launch and Poetry Reading- SOFT APOCALYPSE

Add to Calendar 2023-03-29 19:00:00 2023-03-29 20:30:00 Leah Nieboer Book Launch and Poetry Reading- SOFT APOCALYPSE The Creative Writing Program at the University of Georgia and the UGA Press are proud to host Leah Nieboer to launch her new book Soft Apocalypse. Along with the Creative Writing Program and the UGA Press, Avid Bookshop will also be on site to sell copies of Soft Apocalypse. The author will read from her book at the event, hosted at Ciné on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public. Leah Nieboer’s Soft Apocalypse is a collection of poems selected by Dr. Andrew Zawacki for the Georgia Poetry Prize in 2021. The book is being published under the University of Georgia Press as part of the Georgia Poetry Prize series. The book will be released on March 15, 2023. Leah Nieboer grew up in Iowa. She is a PhD candidate in English at the University of Denver, a graduate of the Warren Wilson College MFA Program for Writers, the winner of the 2022 Mountain West Writers’ Contest in Poetry, and the recipient of a Virginia Center for Creative Arts Fellowship. Her writing has appeared in Western Humanities Review, Poetry Daily, Interim: A Journal of Poetry & Poetics, Ghost Proposal, and other publications.
