I grew up loving school but thinking I would never be a teacher. Now I realize that I wear more than just the teacher hat when I go to work. I am an educator, an artist, a mentor, a supporter, a role model, a leader, and ultimately, someone who is committed to reshaping education for the student population of today and tomorrow.
Currently, I am working on a Master of Art Education degree at the University of Georgia, with an intended graduation date of Fall 2023. I graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.FA. in Art Education in 2019. Prior to returning to UGA, I studied Teacher Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction at the graduate level at the University of Florida. I am passionate about my own growth as an educator and artist, and I am committed to challenging the norms of education in and outside of the classroom to foster equitable access to learning for future generations.
In my position as the K-5 Visual Arts Teacher at Maysville Elementary School, I bring a fresh perspective on interdisciplinary learning, arts integration, and personally relevant and responsive teaching and learning to the lovely small town of rural Maysville, Georgia. My passion for providing students with the tools to navigate a rapidly evolving world and empowering others to visualize their goals for a path to success has carried me through my education and experience thus far and continues to motivate me to step into the classroom. I previously served as the K-5 Visual Arts Teacher at Stone Mountain Elementary School in Stone Mountain, Georgia.
I currently hold a T-4 Georgia Teaching Certificate in P-12 Visual Arts. In addition to my current and previous position, I have student taught in Clarke and Oconee counties. I have experience teaching diverse artistic media, including printmaking, drawing and painting, 3D construction, and photography. I also have knowledge of K-12 Education Technology through my graduate studies at the University of Florida.
In my personal life, I live in the small town of Pendergrass with my fiance, Matt, and our two Australian Shepherds, Emma and Rooster.
