Miami raised artist Cristina Echezarreta observes and responds to her ecological surroundings and her relationship with it. Influenced by the delicate and intrinsic natural functions that occur in our world she uses botany, entomology, memories, and relationships as tools to capture what these fields have in common, and magnifies their attributes at a microscopic and macroscopic level. Her research at The University of Georgia also included social engagement project within prison populations, art and honeybees.

Botany and entomology play a large role in Cristina Echezaretta's work as she attempts to experiment with mediums and processes like photosynthesis, pollination, and cellular function in her installations.​
