ThinkTank is a facilitated forum of Integrative Teaching ThinkTank (ITT) which brings together art and design master teachers, administrators & emerging educators to address thematic issues of higher education. By linking educational theory to studio practice, we develop innovative new approaches to higher education. ThinkTank 4 will be facilitated by Richard Siegesmund, Associate Professor and Co-Chair Art Education, University of Georgia, and Mary Stewart, Professor and Foundations Program Director at Florida State University.
STAGE 1: June 5 to 8
Divergence, Convergence, Emergence: Expanding Cross-Disciplinary Creativity
Event format: intensive facilitated discussions The 21st century workplace is increasingly complex and demands the development of technical, transformational, and empathetic skills. What forms of thinking can best prepare artists and designers to gain from and contribute to our evolving world?
STAGE 2: June 6 to 10
From Theory to Practice: Multi-disciplinary Creativity
Event format: Hands-on workshops and facilitated discussions Working with master teachers, participants will explore various ideation and implementation strategies, such as brainstorming, collaboration, and rapid prototyping. Additional presentations on curriculum design and development, strategic planning, and use of new technologies will help participants turn ideas into achievable actions.
ThinkTank4 will be presented in two stages. Stage 1 is targeted at senior faculty and focuses on educational philosophy and policy. Stage 2 focuses on emerging educators & administrators. An emerging educator is a current MFA student or adjunct instructor who is entering the professoriate. An emerging administrator is a faculty member who oversees a program, department, or division within a school or department of art. Stage 1 and 2 overlap by two days, so that all participants can interact.
