Alum Chris Wyrick Featured in Architectural Digest

Alum Chris Wyrick was recently featured in Architectural Digest for his work on Lenny Kravitz’s Brazilian compound. Wyrick created murals for Kravitz’s former coffee plantation home that featured larger than life jungle foliage and contemporary geometric prints. Kravitz and Wyrick’s met while working together for a previous project for Kavitz Designs. While that project never come to fruition, Kravitz kept Wyrick in mind for future work and brought him on board to work on the guest house specifically. Trevor Paglen Named 2019-2020 Dodd Chair

The Lamar Dodd School of Art is pleased to announce that internationally renowned artist, Trevor Paglen will be in residence at the University of Georgia as the 2019-2020 Dodd Chair. Paglen will work closely with faculty and students at the University of Georgia and will teach graduate seminars in the fall and spring. Professor Imi Hwangbo will exhibit her work in the traveling exhibition “Cut and Paste: Works of Paper.” This exhibition focuses on the ways in which contemporary artists manipulate paper to create remarkable drawn, sculptural, assembled, woven, or folded works of art. “Cut and Paste” features Steven L. Jordan Dopp Awarded Two Travel Grants to Assist Studies in Athens, Greece

Jordan Dopp, a Ph.D. student in Art History, has received two awards to assist her studies this summer in Athens, Greece. Dopp was awarded the 2019 Antony and Isabelle Raubitschek Scholarship, a fellowship to study for six weeks this summer at the Summer Session of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, the foremost research center for classical art in Greece. Dopp was also awarded a Franklin College Ph.D. Summer Research Award. Paula Reynaldi Awarded Juror Prize in Gathered IV at MOCA GA

Paula Reynaldi, a current graduate student with the Art Education department has been included in 4th installment of MOCA GA’s the biennial exhibition Gathered IV: Georgia Artists Selecting Georgia Artists and awarded a Juror’s Prize. Two MFA candidates at the Lamar Dodd School of Art were among the 2019 Winners of ArtFields, an annual competition and exhibition in Lake City, South Carolina offering more than $140,000 in cash prizes. MFA Candidate Kim Truesdale won a Merit Award and incoming MFA Candidate Forrest Lawson was awarded the 2019 Grand Prize worth $50,000. If you had seen Goodloe Yancey walking the hallways as a Lamar Dodd School of Art student in the early 2000s, you might have mistaken him as faculty. Yancey was in his fifties when he returned to the Lamar Dodd School of Art as a student. Yancey returned to academia after retiring from his family’s business.
