As a part of the Dodd Studio Core program, students in the Color and Composition course (ARST 1060) have been familiarizing themselves with digital processes that utilize the Dodd’s Object Lab and Flat Lab. Working in these labs allows to students build foundational digital skills and expand their practice into more contemporary media. Yale University Press recently published an essay by Associate Professor of Art History Janice Simon as a part of the National Gallery of Art’s exhibition catalog for The American Pre-Raphaelites: Radical Realists. In celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of John Ruskin (1819-1900), considered the most influential art critic of the Victorian era, the National Gallery of Art presented more than 80 paintings, watercolors, drawings and photographs created by American artists who were profoundly influenced by the renowned critic. Interdisciplinary Seminar Seeks to Bring Transparency to Immigration Court

During a recent Research Day at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, Professor Marni Shindleman and Dodd Chair Trevor Paglen’s Human Geography class traveled to Atlanta in order to act as court watchers that help bring clarity and transparency to the closed-door proceeding of immigration court hearings. Professor Ted Saupe Included in American Pottery Festival

Professor and Area Chair of Ceramics, Ted Saupe, recently participated in the Northern Clay Center’s 21st annual American Pottery Festival. Saupe was one of the 25 artists invited to participate and showcase their commitment to ceramics. The American Pottery Festival (APF) is an annual fundraising benefit and celebration of notable clay makers. Artists from all over the country met in Minneapolis to share their work, insight and studio practice. Alum Ridley Howard Solo Exhibition in New York

Light Paintings, a solo exhibition of new works by BFA alum and Board of Visitors member Ridley Howard will open at Marinaro in New York City on September 6, 2019. The show will be on view until October 13 and consist of large and small works, all made in 2019. A sweeping collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works will soon be on display at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art, which recently received one of the most significant gifts of European art in its history.
