Thanksgiving Break

As we approach this holiday season, instruction at UGA will be transitioned to entirely remote after the Thanksgiving Holiday. Building access will be limited to grads and faculty. Anyone who uses the facilities post-Thanksgiving should be sure to leave things just as they found them on entry, so as not to cause undue work for returning faculty and grads come spring. Every Gift Makes a Difference In the past 10 years, state funding has only supported 30% of the Lamar Dodd School of Art’s operational cost, and with this year’s budget cuts, assistance from the state has dropped to 20%. Lamar Dodd School of Art graduate students Paula Reynaldi and Annie Simpson were named finalists in the 4 minutes, 33 seconds: Spotlight on Scholarship event held in conjunction with the campus Spotlight on the Arts festival. This seventh-annual competition features presentations about research in the arts conducted by University of Georgia graduate students and awards cash prizes. MFA Candidates Awarded Jurors Choice Awards in Raw Exhibition

Lamar Dodd School of Art is pleased to have two MFA Candidates, Caitlin Daglis and Forrest Lawson were selected to exhibit in ‘Raw’ University of Montana’s annual exhibition of MFA artwork. Daglis as well as Lawson both received Juror’s choice awards for the exhibition. Alum Lauren O’Connor-Korb Awarded in 2020 Wiregrass Biennial

Recent MFA and Dodd Alumna Lauren O’Connor-Korb (2019) has been awarded the Judge’s Prize for her sculpture “The Soloist” in the exhibition “B20:Wiregrass Biennial”. O’Connor-Korb received one award of six among other artists featured in the virtual exhibition of The Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan, Alabama. The Judge’s Prize, awarded to the artist the judge selects as the best overall work in the show, was chosen by Jackie Clay, executive director of the Coleman Center for the Arts, a contemporary art space in York, Alabama. Rachel Seburn, Shaunia Lynn Grant, and Ciel Rodriguez are recent recipients of Willson Center for Humanities & Arts grants for travel and research. Mary Hallam Pearse, Associate Professor of Art and Area Chair for Jewelry and Metals at Lamar Dodd School of Art, is featured in the AMEND virtual exhibition.
