Incoming Freshman Scholarships

The Kuzmicki-McCutchen Scholarship is open to high school seniors who plan to major in art at the University of Georgia.

Deadline: postmarked by February 15 of the high school graduating year.

Students should submit the following:

  • a CD of 10 digital images
  • a one-page statement about your reasons for wanting to be an art student
  • two letters of recommendation from art teachers
  • high school transcript and SAT scores

The application should include the student's name, address, school and city.

Lamar Dodd School of Art Scholarships

The deadline for applications for Lamar Dodd School of Art scholarships for the 2014-2015 academic year is April 15, 2016. Please complete and return the application form with all application materials to Cate Gaddy in room C301H.

The Lamar Dodd School of Art offers the opportunity to apply to three competitive scholarships.

The Rachel Sharp Decosimo Art Scholarship provides financial assistance to out-of-state students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in art at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. Consideration is based upon, but not limited to, academic achievements, financial need and demonstrated talent and promise. The application is available here.

The scholarships are open to full-time students majoring in any area of the visual arts who have completed a minimum of one year of study at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. Preference is generally given to students who will be juniors or seniors, but in the final analysis, a variety of factors are taken into consideration before a decision is reached. Applications are screened by an appointed faculty committee, which has sole discretion in determining recipients of the awards. Recipients of scholarships may be required to participate in a group exhibition in the Visual Arts Gallery, as well as lead tours of the department for visitors.

All Other Scholarships

The scholarships listed below are available to students in specific areas of concentration. The scholarships are awarded based on nominations through the Chair of each specific area and the process takes place during the Spring semester. Students are not able to apply for these scholarships but can express their interest to the Chair of their specific area. Students who wish to apply for scholarships should refer to the competitive scholarships listed above.

The Vince Dooley Scholarship assists worthy students majoring in any program in the School of Art.

The Betty Cabin Memorial Scholarship assists worthy students majoring in any program in the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

The Mary Rosenblatt Scholarship is primarily to assist students who are planning a teaching career; however, awards are not limited to students majoring in art education.

The W. Robert Nix Award of Excellence in Art Education recognizes and assists deserving art education students.

The W. Robert Nix Art Education Award assists a worthy art education student.

The C. Clifton Chandler Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to rising seniors majoring in graphic design.

The John D. & Marilyn Kehoe Cortona Scholarship seeks to recognize and assist deserving students for the academic term that they are enrolled in the Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy.

The Mike Nicholson Drawing and Painting in Cortona Award provides support to students in the area of drawing and painting who will participate in the Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy.

The Del Martin Amica di Cortona Scholarship supports up to three students accepted to the Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy per year (either Fall, Spring or Summer semesters) based on both merit and financial need.
