Art Education Certificate Only Program
The Art Education program at the Lamar Dodd School of Art is grounded in critical, experiential, and interdisciplinary inquiry. Faculty and students benefit from close proximity to the Georgia Museum of Art, partnerships with schools and community organizations in diverse settings, and the expertise of renowned studio and art history faculty within the School of Art. As a community of art educators, we explore the intersections of contemporary art, service-learning, and social justice. Graduates are encouraged to be innovators who challenge the status quo through locally and globally transformative practices.
Individuals with an undergraduate degree in Art (or a closely related major) from the Lamar Dodd School of Art or another four-year institution may request admission to Art Education for the Certification (non-degree) program. This is an entry-level (Level 4) certification that allows recipients to teach at the PK-12 level.
Though this program can be completed part-time, courses related to certification are offered during the day so as to coincide with school hours. School-based experiences are integrated into these courses.
Interested applicants will apply through the UGA Graduate School (see bottom of page for link to application instructions).
