Ekaterina Nikiforova (pseud. Okiforova) is a painter and interdisciplinary artist from St. Petersburg, Russia. Started as a printmaker and painter then studied technological / media art, currently returned to painting.

Ekaterina Okiforova paints using a self-developed technique: acrylic with glitter. For her, glitter is primarily the material that transforms her painting process. Initially it entered her work as a metaphor for social media: she chose glitter to enhance the contrast between the intimate world and how she presented herself to others. Later, she discovered that the addition of glitter allows layering of the acrylic paint, achieving the vibrant color and grainy texture.

Ekaterina is conceptually engaged with posthumanism and cyberfeminism. She believes in the boundless creative energy of women, something she feels palpably within herself and strives to visualize in her work. She also perceives this energy in other living beings, which is why plants often make subjects in her paintings. In her geometric works, she looks at the interaction with the depicted subject on multiple levels: visual, tactile, and spiritual.

The current series of paintings was created as a result of completing a cycle of exploration of the Shadow of Personality and its reunification with the conscious part of the psyche. A sense of the integrity of consciousness was achieved and expressed in the reproduction of the resulting sensory experience.
