Financial Aid & Scholarships

Lamar Dodd School of Art scholarships provide undergraduate and graduate students financial support for tuition, research, art practice, and experiential learning experiences. Interested applicants are encouraged to review key information below before submitting an application.

Scholarship Application Process

The Lamar Dodd School of Art Scholarship program encompasses annual scholarships totaling $70,000 awarded to undergraduate and graduate students, including merit- and need-based support, area awards, and project and experiential learning scholarships. It does not include graduate fellowships awarded to incoming graduate students or NYC Maymester or UGA Cortona Study Abroad awards; find more information about these awards and their requirements below.

Scholarship recipients are announced by late spring, and scholarship funds are awarded for the subsequent fall semester (exceptions made for summer experiential learning and project award applications).

Lamar Dodd School of Art scholarships are made possible through generous contributions to the School that recognize and encourage academic and professional achievement. Please carefully review our timeline, requirements, and process below before consulting our lists of awards and submitting an application!

Once awarded, Lamar Dodd School of Art requests that scholarship recipients participate in the following activities:

  1. Writing a thank you note to your donor by participating in a school-wide scholarship writing workshop.
  2.  Attend the Scholarship Recognition event (TBA).
  3. Complete an online scholarship gratitude report request; this request will come from our central development team at UGA.

Merit Scholarships Open to All

The Lamar Dodd School of Art offers students the opportunity to apply for competitive scholarships. The scholarships are open to full-time students majoring in any area of the visual arts. Preference is generally given to students who will be juniors or seniors, but in the final analysis, a variety of factors are taken into consideration before a decision is reached. Applications are screened by an appointed faculty committee, which has sole discretion in determining recipients of the awards.

  • Students must be enrolled full-time in fall of the scholarship application year to be eligible for merit awards

For project and experiential learning scholarships, please see information below.
