Join a roundtable presentation and discussion with Professor Michelle Clayton about her current book-in-progress, provisionally titled Articulations: Dancing Across Modernities. This project explores early-twentieth-century circulations, translations, and transpositions of poetry, film, art, dance, and performance across languages, media, and regions. By treating movement as both a code of gesture and a mode of circulation across cultures, the project foregrounds the role of dance in the avant-gardes and diverse responses to modernity in Europe and the Americas.
A draft of the book’s introduction will be pre-circulated to attendees before gathering. Please email ModSquad faculty co-director Nell Andrew (nandrew@uga.edu) to receive a copy of the text.
