Housed within a tier one research university, the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia is a comprehensive, nationally-ranked art school administering undergraduate and graduate programs in areas of studio art, design, art education, and art history. The Lamar Dodd School of Art has over 40 full-time faculty members administering undergraduate and graduate programs to over 1,300 students. Our vibrant community fosters a creative atmosphere for innovation.
Faculty are provided numerous resources for advancing research, including a private studio or work space, computer, access to a wide array of tools and technology, and opportunities for travel and research funding.

Facilities
The Lamar Dodd School of Art’s Main Art Building is housed in a spacious, eco-conscious building located on east campus in close proximity to other facilities dedicated to the arts on campus, including the Hugh Hodgson School of Music, the University of Georgia Performing Art Center and the Georgia Museum of Art.
In addition to the Main Art Building, the Dodd operates out of four additional buildings on three corners of the University of Georgia’s campus. These separate buildings include the Thomas Street Arts Complex, Broad Street Studios, and the Ceramics Building.
The Dodd’s facilities and equipment are state-of-the-art. Studio faculty and graduate students are generously accommodated with their own dedicated studios.

Galleries
The Dodd Galleries is dedicated to understanding and promoting contemporary art as a tool and catalyst for education. The Galleries consist of five exhibition spaces that act as laboratories and testing grounds for innovation located among our classrooms and studios.
The Athenaeum is a non-collecting contemporary art gallery affiliated with the University of Georgia. It is an experimental educational resource for students, faculty, and for people in the Athens community at large.

Part-Time Instructors
Studio Core Interdisciplinary Pedagogy and Practice Fellow
The Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia invites applicants for an instructor and research position under the title of Interdisciplinary Pedagogy and Practice Fellow. Responsibilities include teaching two studio courses within the Studio Core area, including, potentially, Ideation & Methodologies and/or The Principles of 3d-Design in both the fall and spring semesters. In addition to teaching, applicants are expected to contribute to the development of material- and spatial-design curriculum while actively pursuing their creative work. This one-year appointment carries modest compensation, research support, a private studio, and full access to UGA facilities for research.
Candidates are required to have completed an MFA in studio art or M.Arch architecture within the last five years; preferably, with a broad spectrum of knowledge regarding evolving genres, e.g., community-based practice, design, digital fabrication, urbanism, post-internet, and/or screen-based approaches. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to evolving their creative work while at UGA. Research conducted during the position will be presented through a solo exhibition or lecture in the School of Art early in the spring semester.
This position will begin August 2025 and conclude in May 2026, with the possibility for renewal for one academic year. The final application deadline for full consideration is 4/11/2025. Applicants should submit a letter of interest that summarizes their qualifications and research interests; a current curriculum vitae; teaching philosophy; 10 images of creative work along with 10 images of student work; and contact information for three references to james.enos@uga.edu.

The Checkout for Audio/Visual Equipment (CAVE) is the Lamar Dodd School of Art’s resource for students to have access to and learn about technologies and incorporate them into their artwork. CAVE Associates work under the guidance of the Art Studio Technician and will be responsible for maintaining and organizing the equipment check out center along with assisting students, faculty and staff with any technical questions they may have. This position is responsible for participating in the overall workflow/functionality of the CAVE.

This role is ideal for a student (graduate or undergraduate) with a background in computer science, engineering, media arts, or related fields who is excited by interdisciplinary work across real-time systems, creative coding, robotics, XR and AI-driven storytelling and emerging media art. In exchange you will also learn about speculative design, worldbuilding and spatial storytelling et al.
