An unparalleled education
The Lamar Dodd School of Art spans North and East campuses of the University of Georgia, with 5 separate facilities for instruction and gallery spaces, including our main building neighboring the Georgia Museum of Art, a Ceramics Building, the Thomas Street Art Complex with woodshops and metalwork studios, Broad Street Studios for interior design and the contemporary art gallery the Athenaeum.
Founded in 1927, the Lamar Dodd School of Art has grown to become one of the premier art programs in the country, with a legacy in craft art disciplines like ceramics, textiles and jewelry and metalwork. In recent years, graphic design, printmaking and book arts, and scientific illustration have consistently ranked among the top programs in the nation.
The Lamar Dodd School of Art is among the few programs in the nation to offer a fully-funded MFA degree in interdisciplinary studio art with spacious studios. Moreover, our graduate programs in art history and doctoral program in art education provide ample funding.
Boasting 600 majors and minors and close to 70 graduate students across studio art, art history and art education, the Lamar Dodd School of Art welcomes students from the state of Georgia and beyond, with students from across the world pursuing a high caliber education in the arts.
